LA burdick has two stores in boston. one in Harvard sq and this one is in back bay. the back bay store just opened not long ago. if you are not familiar with their chocolate, everything is handmade. they import the best ingredients from fance switzerland, and venezuela. they dont use extracts, concentrates, or flavorings. all flavors come directly from their sources.

super rich chocolate cake.

IMG_0025

this is actually the first ive had their iced chocolate drink. i got the dark chocolate drink. extremely rich. ive had hot chocolate in the winter, really thick and rich like you are drinking melted chocolate. you’d imagine the white chocolate drink would be super sweet right? no, it’s actually nice and light, like milk.

French Macarons @ Ladurée Upper East Side New York, NY

IMG_8357

IMG_8320

i’ve gotten macarons from Ladurée as gifts a few times before, but this is actually my 1st time buying macarons from Ladurée myself. (oh, actually no, i made pork belly pay for it jeje). this store is very touristy, long wait, well jus like other stores in manhattan.

IMG_8324IMG_8328

if you are not familiar with Ladurée, it’s one of the most famous/best in the world. they are directly shipped from paris. i can’t tell you if it’s the best cuz i havent had a chance to try pierre hermé yet, but from all the macarons ive tried, laurée def makes the most perfect macaron. perfect texture, sweetness. moist, melts in your mouth. the almond power/flour taste isnt overwhelming. HOWEVER, i do find the flavors of their macarons a little boring. macarons are not supposed to be chewy, but i do like some chewy macarons. hey, it’s my stomach, i make the rules.

when i got macarons from ladurée as gifts, they all came with these fancy boxes, but i didnt know these boxes cost extra money. if you only buy a few pieces and do not wanna pay these fancy boxes, they only give u a paper bag. macarons are so delicate i dont think its a good idea unless you are gonna eat them on the spot. they do give u a free box if you buy 8 pieces which i did. $2.7 a piece.

Desserts @ Caffé Vittoria North End Boston, MA

after din din @ Trattoria Il Panino, we went to Caffé Vittoria for some desserts.

i didnt like the atmosphere. the old decor make this place look unclean. food is mediocre but very cheap so the quality justifies its price. can’t complain.

i do not think i will return because both of the place itself and the food do not look appealing and clean.
i didnt feel comfortable at all.

this place gets 2/5 bunny belly.

Online Ordered French Macarons from Macaron Cafe New York

pork belly ordered me some macarons from macaron cafe because there arent a lot of places that sell macarons in boston. we have searched a lot of place online and the macaron cafe from new york looks the best and have relatively low shipping rate. the bad thing about ordering food online is the shipping cost since they have to be shipped thru overnight or same day shipping. the shipping cost can be as much as the cost of the food itself or even more.

macaron cafe has a decent selection of flavors. since it’s been a while, i cannot remember what exactly they taste like. i just remember they didnt wow me but they didnt taste bad either.

if you can’t get macarons anywhere else, i’d give this place a try.

fyi, macarons taste the best at room temperature. they need to be refrigerated if you are not eating them. once you get them out of the fridge, wait 15-20 mins so they are at room temperature.

you can order online @

http://macaroncafe.com/

or come visit their New York stores including
625 Madison Ave. Entrance on 59th Street
and 161 West 36th Street between Broadway and 7th
