Hungry Mother & Tatte Fine Cookies & Cakes @ Kendall Square/MIT Cambridge, MA Boston

a friend of mine recently moved to kendall square area so we decided to explore the dinning scene around the area. i picked hungry mother for din din last sunday; was able to get a same day reservation on opentable.

parking wasnt too hard to find, but they do offer validated parking at kendall square cinema garage.

hun1-2

hungry mother consists of three dinning rooms. the room we dined in didnt have much decorations, but i did like the ambience: quiet, intimate.
hun2-2

hungry mother does change their menu a lot. they get the ingredients from farms in and around new english. everything is pretty much made in house.

hun8-2

hun4-2

crispy antebellum grits, beets, wild mushrooms, pickled ramps, sorrel & leek soubise

smoked beef tongue on toast, robinson swiss cheese, dijon, gremolata – bbq flavor, super tender beef tongue, very yum!

i basically loved/liked everything we ordered. everything was very flavorful and well executed; did live up to the hype! we were pretty full after dinner, but next time i ll def try their desserts! one year it was rated as ’10 best american restaurants in the america’. they offer $8 tickets to kendal square cinema if you dine at hungry mother. would be a great date night.

ive been getting a lot questions about my camera and my secrets of taking photos in restaurant/low light settings. yes it is super hard to take good photos at low light settings. most of the time lighting is even nonexistent. this is when a dslr would really make a difference. a decent dslr + low aperture will allow you to take sharp photos at low light settings, but most importantly it’s the magic of photoshop!!!

below is a comparison of two photos, left one straight from the camera and right one after photoshopped. wow i know hehe :)

shot with canon 5d mark II with a 50mm 1.8f

i am no where close to professional and ive never taken any photography or photoshop classes, but feel free to ask me any questions about my pix. i’d be more than happy to answer with the very little knowledge i have.

dont forget to like my facebook page and follow me on twitter! thanks!

French Macarons @ Argo Tea and Boston Common Coffee Company

My macarons are available for sale on Etsy.com
Please check out my listing: https://www.etsy.com/listing/130648068/12-french-macarons-boston-free-delivery

jus wanna do a quick update on macarons in boston. so besides macaron sweeterie in lexington and LA burdick, there is another place that sells french macarons in bean: argo tea.

argo tea cafe is located in northeastern university snell library. i heard you do need a student ID to get into the library but i could be wrong. so you might need your NEU friend to hook you up.

i got them as a gift from my NEU friend today. how sweet!!! <3

these are a lil bit too sweet for my liking, but i do like the green one a lot!!! i think it’s cantaloupe, never had that flavor before. i like these better than LA burdick, but def cant beat macaron sweeterie in lexington. if lexington is too far, this is a good alternative.

today i also went to boston common coffee co. to get some coffee. not a fan of their coffee at all, but it’s so cheap and close to my work and i go there sometimes when i dun wanna walk to starbucks. i saw they had macarons so i had to pick up two.

the first bite wasnt bad, then it became wayyyy too sweet and sugary tasting. i had hard time finishing it.

i dont think they have it all the time or at all locations.

Bingsoo @ Between Hours / PC Cafe Boston Allston, MA

i actually hate this place. i would NEVER come to this place if i didnt have to. the bubble tea/milkshakes/smoothies are absolutely the worst in town and i have had enough to judge. the service is horrible and nonexistent. 9.5 out of 10 times i do not want boba in my bubble tea. despite the fact that how horrible their drinks taste, one time i order bubble tea from between hours and asked for no boba, my drink was literally a little bit more than half cup filled. i asked why and she told with a BAD ATITUDE that their drinks were proportional pre-poured so i did not want boba therefore my drink wasnt filled. what kinda BULLSHIT is that? you did not charge me less for no boba so why cant i have my drink filled up. i thought that was super ridiculous. their fro-yo tastes horrible too. there are plenty of better bubble tea and fro-yo places near allston/brighton area, so no way i would want to return to this place esp with the TERRIBLE service and food.

last night, 5 friends and i went to shanghai gate for din din. we headed to between hours because one friend insisted and said the bingsoo (shaved ice) is good.

i shared a green tea bingsoo with my friend. meh, this was ok. wasnt as horrible as other things that they have. they put boba and banana in it which i dont like.

two other friends shared a red bean bingsoo

and my friend has this banana split by himself. i tried some and did not like it. tasted like very cheap ice cream.

while we were there, we had some fun with my iphone fisheye lens.

Desserts @ Caffé Vittoria North End Boston, MA

after din din @ Trattoria Il Panino, we went to Caffé Vittoria for some desserts.

i didnt like the atmosphere. the old decor make this place look unclean. food is mediocre but very cheap so the quality justifies its price. can’t complain.

i do not think i will return because both of the place itself and the food do not look appealing and clean.
i didnt feel comfortable at all.

this place gets 2/5 bunny belly.

my porky belly w/ cutie face impatiently waiting for foooda
