Zaftigs Delicatessen @ Coolidge Corner Boston Brookline, MA

i haven’t been to zaftigs forever that i forgot how shitty their food is. my college friend came to visit me this weekend. i made a 1pm reservation at sportello for lunch, but we failed to wake up for it. we were trying to go to garden at the cellar but still didnt make it because they close at 2:30 for lunch. my friend still wanted brunch and another friend of mine suggested zaftigs. ive been to zaftigs once long time ago and i didnt remember their food to be as bad.

man, one of the worst brunch ive had in my life.

Cheap Eats: Anna’s Taqueria @ Boston Davis Square Somerville, MA

unless you are a visitor, probably everyone in boston knows about anna’s taqueria. its a locally owned mexican ‘fast food’ place. they have serval locations in cambridge, somerville, brookline, boston, etc.

it can’t compare with the tacos from the west coast and meat could’ve been cooked better, but they do use fresh ingredients. very cheap! my 3 tacos only cost $8.

i got grilled chicken, al pastor, and steak tacos.

Island Creek Oyster Bar on Urbanspoon

Island Creek Oyster Bar @ Fenway Boston, MA

i have been trying to eat at island creek oyster bar forever. i could never get a reservation online (opentable) no matter how in advance. the place is huge so i figured no way they are packed every night. one of my college friends was in town; i decided to go to island creek oyster bar without a reservation. we were lucky enough to get a parking spot and seated immediately upon arrival. the place was busy but plenty of empty seats since it’s so huge. i tend to love places that have high ceilings. i really enjoyed the ambience: trendy and classy.

the entire wall is made of oyster shells.

we started off with riesling. wine was ok.

i also wanna mention about their butter. i loved it. so yum with a tint of sweetness.

appetizer. No Shell Prince Edward Island Mussels
white wine cream, garlic, shallots, parsley

this was my fave thing of the entire meal. loved the broth.

my friend tried 3 diff kinds of oysters. their oysters are supposed to be the best oysters in town. my friends thought they were good but a little bit fishy and oysters at neptunes  are def better and more fresh.

Pan Roasted Rhode Island Monkfish
whole grain spaetzle, grilled onion,
lemon caper butter

this was good but nothing amazing.

LOBSTER ROE NOODLES
braised short rib, grilled lobster,
maitake mushrooms, English peas, Pecorino

i ordered this dish because it’s probably the most popular dish here. the pasta itself was NOT so ‘al dente’ but overall wasnt bad.

it was a lil bit salty for my liking. the beef and lobster were well cooked. notice there is ONE french fry in my plate. i wonder if it really came with it?

again, i really liked the ambience of this place. very spacious and relaxing. the food isn’t the greatest food on earth, but i would def come here again to hang out. the open til 1 in the morning.

my fave part of the meal: at the end of the meal we wanted to order more drinks, the waiter poured us 3 free glasses of wine. how awesome was that!?!? free drinks w00t!!!!!

because of this i am giving this place 5/5 bunny belly!!

Thai Food @ Brown Sugar Cafe Boston Brookline, MA

today is the first day that boston hits the 70s this spring. my bff sherry is on a vegetarian diet, so our lunch choices are limited. we decided to go to brown sugar cafe to get some thai food since i haven’t been to this place forever. i went to college in syracuse, i had the best thai food in america there. the thai places in boston are just mehhhh.

the bff can’t have meat so we ordered the tofu triangles with peanut sauce for appetizer.

i ordered the green curry with chicken, the chicken was dry, but the curry was alright.

the bff had veggie pad thai. it looked kinda bland, but it actually tasted alright. i never get pad thai i have no idea why. i don’t think i can possibly finish an entire portion of pad thai. i would feel super nauseous because it’s sweet.

oh last but not least! thai iced tea!!! pure heaven

if you are a vegetarian, make sure you tell the waiter that do not put any fish sauce. the cook pretty much everything with fish sauce.

btw, i had diarrhea not long after i left the restaurant. being the first meal of the day, i am sure it was the meal i just had from brown sugar cafe. the diarrhea wasn’t bad. i have pooped like 4 times. i don’t mind as long as i am not super sick because i just pooped everything out = no weight gain?? loool i am sorry I’m sick i know :)
