Sichuan Style String Beans 干煸四季豆
this was bad as well. the green beans werent ‘gan bian’ well. they were rather raw/bland tasting.

Gangou Dry Fish Filet 干鍋魚片
this was underwhelming. the batter of the fish was too thick.

although the restaurant looked relatively nicer than their other locations, the food was rather disappointing at sichuan gourmet especially we drove all the way to framingham. i dont think i would return just to eat here again.

  1. Have you tried Sichuan Gourmet in Billerica? Same name, but the food is great–hard to believe it’s the same owner–and worth a visit.
    RGH

      • I’m relatively new to the area — having lived south of Boston for many years, but recently moved to Concord — so I try to keep an eye out for good places. Yes, they are the same owner — amazing.
Happy to have found your blog. Try Giulia in Cambridge, by the way. Not cheap, but really good.

      • Ooh, solid — not a ringing endorsement. Granted, it’s not Al Forno, but I liked it for food and atmosphere.

80 Thoreau is good overall — I think when it first opened it was such a breath of fresh air in Concord — not the best dining scene, to be honest — that the enthusiasm made it seem better than it was. That said, I do think the food is very good, though the service sometimes can seem a bit unctuous (the managers, that is) and the lighting is too bright. Certainly worth a visit, however.
