went to barroco restaurant for dinner on a few weeks ago during our montreal trip. the restaurant is located in the old montreal neighborhood. rustic stone and wood buildings. loved the ambience. felt like i was dining in a cool cave.
veal tartar
confit lemon, grilled oyster mushroom, capers, carrot parsley, and truffle oil – so yummmmm loved it.

all the entrees choices looked amazing. i just couldnt pass on paella tho.
paella barroco – lobster, shrimp, fresh scallop, morcilla, chorizo, tomatoes, red peppers, green peas & saffron
i did enjoy this a lot, but i believe this wasnt the best paella ive ever had. the rice was a lil undercooked and dry.

The only time I’ve been to Montréal I came down with a vicious flu and spent the weekend vomiting endlessly in a hostel background. I need to go back and make up for that lost time! Everything I’ve read says they’ve got an amazing food culture.
