bonjour.
we went to montreal last weekend to watch the f1 grand prix.
friday morning before the driving to montreal, we went to pork belly’s fave dim sum spot Hei La Moon to get some dim sum.
i think hei la moon is the best dim sum place in boston. the place is huge; you never have to wait for seats even on weekends.

love the chives (on the left) dumplings and the shrimp dumplings (on the right). the pork one is pork belly’s fave (yellow)

we found this random japanese hot dog place in chinatown and it looks just like the japadog in st. marks in NYC
pork belly decided to get one altho it didnt look good at all.

he said its not bad. i didnt believe him.

i got this from beijing earlier this year. love it.

the boys in my hello kitty’ed out car

when we stop for gas, i got this double chocolate and caramel ice cream bar. such a wrong decision. too fattening and wayyy too sweet.

when we got to montreal it started to rain. oh no.

but it started to clear up. yay

checking in hotel. look all the f1 flags decorations.

we got there too late for the practice round so we decided to eat instead. the boys looking up places to eat.

going to clubbing tonight but pork belly did not bring any dress shoes. we headed to the mall. pretty much everything in montreal is in french. i was pretty surprised since canada is still an english speaking country.

din din time!!!!
we decided to go with french since we were in canada. our choices were limited because a lot of places were fully booked and some required formal attire. chris picked O’Thym which was totally delish. the restaurant was very casual and BYOB which means they do not serve alcohol/wine but you are welcome to bring your own wine. we were the only table that did not bring wine because the liquor stores were already closed at that time. all the diners spoke french as well as the waiter. thank god it wasnt a tourist spot! i wish restaurants in boston are BYOB, but alcohol is super profitable i doubt any restaurants would wanna do it.
complimentary soup. mongo, lemongrass, very thai-ish. refreshing.

cheese plate. cheese + apple is pretty good

ravioli. omg best ravioli ive ever had !!! the ravioli shell is baked. amazing.

tatin of foie gras, figs and shallots

rack of lamb, cumin and honey sauce – the lamb was seasoned and cooked perfectly.

pork belly ate it caveman style

filet mignon with mushroom sauce and brandy shimeji buna

the food was superb as well as the service. would love to return if im in montreal again.

btw, the neighborhood was pretty sketchy. we had two homeless guys tried to wipe our windshield for money and one dude tried to open our car door O.O
we headed to the club Arena after din din, but we got lost and without 3g. starbux were closed at that time. mcdonalds was our best friend.

we spotted this cool DT 40 while we were trying to figure out our directions
Cee Lo Green was performing live at Arena and we also saw the fighter GSP.
canadian clubs are wayyyyy over priced. nobody really danced. we peaced out around 3am.

Have you tried Chau Chow City in Chinatown or in Dorchester for dim sum? I always though that they did a pretty good job!
No I haven’t. Now that u mentioned I’ll def check them out. Thanks a lot!
I enjoy the fish-eye effect. Was it with a lens or was it post-processing? Nice work.
